In Chiapas, the government provides free school lunches for children in preschool and elementary school — but once students reach junior high or high school, that support ends. Families must then pay for their children’s meals, which cost about 20 pesos ($1.20 USD) per day, or $25 a month.
For many families living below the poverty line, even this small amount can be too much. Some students go to school without eating lunch, making it harder for them to focus, learn, and dream.
Out of 80 students in our partner junior high school, 32 are currently in need of lunch support. Through the Chiapas Education Project, we are doing our best to meet that need — starting in 2023 by sponsoring 3 students, growing to 6 in 2024, and now in 2025, proudly supporting 11 students with daily school lunches. ❤️
One of those students is Martín, a kind and hardworking junior high student. Recently, when we noticed that his school uniform had become too tight, we were able to gift him a new formal school uniform and a new P.E. uniform — both provided with love through the support of our community.
Each meal, each uniform, and each act of kindness reminds these young students that they are seen, valued, and supported.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who donates, shares our story, and stands with us. Your generosity helps us nourish not just bodies, but dreams. 🌱
