The Pine Ridge Indian Reservation is a large reservation in South Dakota that is home to the Oglala Lakota people. We are committed to bringing access to technology to Pine Ridge Reservation, empowering our relatives with the tools to pursue online education and secure remote job opportunities through access to computers. Pine Ridge, faces severe economic challenges due to multiple factors:
Pine Ridge has some of the highest poverty rates in the U.S., with the officially reported poverty rate for American Indians on the reservation at 53.75%, though many estimates suggest it may be over 80%.
We offer free basic computer repair classes at Pine Ridge Reservation, equipping students with hands-on skills to install SSDs and Windows on the computers they work on. Best of all, each student gets to keep the computer they repair, along with a donated toolkit and a bootable USB with Windows 11 to help with future repairs.
By collecting and repurposing recycled computers, we are giving these devices a second life. Instead of ending up in landfills, they are transformed into tools of empowerment, providing students with valuable skills and resources.
Our work is driven by a deep commitment to Indigenous solidarity, recognizing that we are one people, connected across the Americas.
