Based in Coast Salish Territory, the Chiapas Education Project supports local BIPOC youth, elders, and people with disabilities through free tech access, training, and support.
We offer hands-on computer repair training for low-income BIPOC students, who receive a free refurbished laptop upon completion.
Our community programs include:
• Senior Tech Support – One-on-one help for elders learning to use devices.
• Tech for People with Disabilities – Personalized support and computer donations.
• Mac Accessibility Program – Matching Mac devices with those who benefit from their accessibility features.
We believe technology is a human right.
Through access, education, and care, we build pathways to liberation.
We get laptops into the hands of BIPOC and low-income students who need them, because tech access is a right, not a privilege.
We offer patient, one-on-one technical support for seniors, helping them feel confident using computers, smartphones, and the internet—whether it's sending emails, joining video calls, or navigating new apps.
We provide free or low-cost donated computers to low-income individuals who need access to technology for school, work, and daily life.
Technology should be accessible to everyone. Our ongoing program provides gently used Mac computers to low-income individuals with disabilities, empowering them with the tools they need to thrive. With macOS’s built-in accessibility features, these devices support independence, education, and connection.
Have a Mac you no longer use? Donate it and help bridge the digital divide in our community.
Our goal with our computer repair classes is to empower users with fundamental skills to repair their own computers. By providing this training, we aim to help individuals avoid the high costs associated with professional repair services. We hope to impart essential knowledge so that participants are not at a disadvantage due to a lack of understanding of basic computer repair. Our mission is to ensure that everyone has the confidence and skills to manage common computer issues on their own, avoiding unnecessary expenses and feeling more in control of their technology.
We teach participants essential skills for maintaining and repairing their computers. This includes how to replace a hard drive, clean the internal components and fans from dust, and install the Windows operating system. By equipping users with these basic but crucial skills, we aim to empower them to handle common computer issues on their own.
The classes are available Monday through Saturday. Contact us to schedule a one on one class based on availability. Our classes are offered in Tacoma, Seattle, and Lynnwood area.
